Syrian History

Syrian historySami Moubayed, a Syrian political analyst, has been researching Syrian history since 1996. He is the author of three books on modern Syria. Over an 8-year period, he has accumulated a very large collection of papers, documents, and photographs, which he decided to display in the first online museum of Syria. The idea came to mind and was executed with his friend Sahban Abd Rabbo, the site's webmaster, in late 2004.

Historical Voices

Historical voices"Hearing the actual voices of the past can bring history alive in a way that reading a transcribed text never can,” noted Mark Kornbluh, Director of MATRIX. “Digital technologies now allow us to recapture the sounds of the past and make them freely available to students, teachers, and all Americans through the World Wide Web."

The Open Video Project

open video"Anticipating a future with widespread access to large digital libraries of video, a great deal of research is currently focused on many areas related to digital video. Research in these areas requires that each investigator acquire and digitize video for their studies since the multimedia information retrieval community does not yet have a standard collection of video to be used for research purposes.

l' Archivio europeo

Archivio europeo"Based in Amsterdam and Paris, the European Archive is a non-profit foundation working towards universal access to all knowledge. The archive will achieve this through partnerships with libraries, museums, other collection bodies, and through building its own collections. The primary goal of collecting this knowledge is to make it as publicly accessible as possible, via the Internet and other means.
